Abstract:
Objectives Hunan Nanshan National Park is one of the top ten pilot areas for the national park system in China, with a key ecological location and outstanding ecological resources. The valuation of its ecosystem services is not only beneficial for the management and conservation of the park itself, but also serves a crucial reference point for the promotion of ecosystem value realization.
Methods This article followed the principles of science, rationality, and operability, and it constructed an ecosystem service value accounting framework applicable to Hunan Nanshan National Park. The framework included three major categories of material product value, regulatory service value, and cultural service value, as well as 13 accounting items, and 14 physical quantity indicators. Subsequently, the functional value method and equivalent factor method were employed to calculate its ecosystem service value.
Results The results showed that: (1) The total ecosystem service value of Nanshan National Park was 9.871 billion yuan, and with a service value of 7.571 million yuan per unit area. Among them, the value of material products was 2.247 billion yuan, the value of regulatory services was 2.427 million yuan, and the value of cultural services was 5.197 billion yuan. (2) The cultural service value of the ecosystem in Hunan Nanshan National Park was significant, and its regulatory service value exceeded its material product value. (3) Livestock product value was the primary material product value. The predominant regulatory service functions were soil conservation and climate regulation. The predominant method for quantifying the value of cultural services was through leisure tourism.
Conclusions Based on the accounting results, countermeasures to promote the appreciation of material products, ensure the preservation of regulatory services, and promote the appreciation of cultural services were proposed, with a view to providing reference for the management, decision-making, and sustainable development of the park.
